Leo O. Goulding Photospacer.gif Jones, Lee O. OCEANSIDE -- It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lee O. Jones, devoted husband and father, at Tri-City Medical Center on May 11, 2015.

Leo, as he was affectionately known, was born January 4, 1924, in Philadelphia, Mississippi to Straudie and Elsie Jones. In 1943, at age 18, Leo enlisted in the  United States Marine Corps, serving with great distinction until his retirement in 1964 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He received the  Purple Heart Award for wounds sustained in Korea in 1951. Msgt. Jones and his family were posted across the United States and beyond, including two years in The Philippines, 1962-64. He finished his military service at MCRD in San Diego.

Upon military retirement, Leo settled with his family in Oceanside, CA where he worked in the Civil Service Base Motor Transport Division at Camp Pendleton. After 40 years in Public Service, Leo enjoyed an active retirement involving such activities as camping, fishing, reading and watching Nascar races. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Oceanside.

Leo is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marguerite; daughter, Beverly; son, Jerry; grandsons, Ryan and Brett; sisters, Arlie D. Edgar and Willo Lemerick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be laid to rest at 12:30pm on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Miramar National Cemetery with the Reverend Tim Beal presiding. Semper Fi, Msgt. Jones.
