William Lowell "Bill" Harvey
September 6, 1930 - October 8, 2015

William L. Harvey Photo spacer.gif William Lowell Harvey died in his home on Thursday, October 8, 2015. William (known to many as Bill), was the first of three children born to Lola and George Harvey in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 6, 1930.

After developing a hardworking nature and sense of adventure, Bill joined the Navy before his 18th birthday and was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Serving on submarines as an optics specialist, he completed classified missions off the coast of North Korea and in the Arctic Circle. However, his greatest adventure was meeting the love of his life, Shirley Cordeiro, a Portuguese Hawaiian living in Honolulu. They were married in October of 1952 and enjoyed nearly 63 years of marriage together. The Harveys moved to San Diego, where Bill joined the fire service at Camp Pendleton, ultimately retiring as Fire Chief. Bill and Shirley had one son, William, whom they loved and supported greatly. Life in Vista allowed Bill to coach Little League, play countless rounds of golf, and enjoy the marvelous performances at the Moonlight Amphitheater, where he and Shirley volunteered for over 20 years and received many honors.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Shirley; son Bill; daughter-in-law Nancy; granddaughters Kristin and Michelle; and many extended "families." His welcoming and sometimes mischievous personality will surely be missed by the countless lives he touched in the community of Vista.

Services will be held in the Historic Church at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, CA on Thursday, October 29 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of William Harvey to the Moonlight Cultural Foundation at www. Moonlightcultural foundation. com or PO Box 2497, Vista, CA. 92085.

Aloha Oe
Until we meet Again
