Ignatius Guillaumin

SURPRISE, AZ -- Iggy Guillaumin, 88, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at the Hospice of the Valley from cardiovascular disease.

He was born August 24, 1928 in Chicago, IL. Iggy was an electrical technician working for the USPS automating the mailing systems in Chicago, IL. Iggy and his loving wife Terry, moved to Carlsbad, CA., bought a home and enjoy retirement together.

Iggy loved to travel with Terry to Mexico, Australia, and Hawaii. They took many trips to the Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal, South Sea Islands, Europe and Middle East. Iggy was a very kind and caring husband who had a very contagious smile. Iggy was a Navy veteran, Seaman 1st Class, aboard the USS Little. He was one of the survivors of the USS Little, which was sunk in the Pacific during WWII.

He is preceded in death by his parents George and Theresa Guillaumin, brothers George and Arthur, and loving wife, Terry. Iggy and Terry had no children. He is survived by sister-in-law Eleanor Guillaumin, niece Nancy Smith (Mark), nephews Ken and Ron Guillaumin (Susann) and many grand nephews and nieces and their families. He will be so missed by family, friends and Navy crew members.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 20th, at the St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Carlsbad, with military interment at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

Memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Iggy Guillaumin joined NARFE on 2-10-1999 while he lived in Carlsbad. He moved to Colorado in 2013 and to Sun City AZ earlier this year.
